Hello friends!
I have been rather busy this week :-) And it's all been the good kind of busy! Yay!
One of the things I have been busy doing is making this dress :-) I'm pretty pleased with it (and pretty proud of myself). I made it entirely from scratch, including drafting the pattern myself :-)
The bodice and sleeves are made using a cotton sateen with a little bit of elastine in the blend so that it is a tiny bit stretchy, and the skirt section is made using a really lovely cotton duck cloth that is just the right weight for a skirt/dress. Below is a close up of the skirt fabric. Sweet, yes? I have quite a bit of this fabric left... I wonder what else I will make with it? Perhaps a bag??
I actually made this dress to wear to the races tonight. We're going to see Black Caviar run again!! We're pretty excited! I'll try and take a few pics to show you (but it is a night race, so photography might be a bit challenging... but I'll still try! :-)

Racing Introduction :-)
Hello friends!
Recently I went to my very first proper horse race and loved it!
I was a bit worried that I didn't have anything suitable to wear, so in a (slight) panic I made a dress the day before and it turned out pretty well :-) (Phew!!)
I used a cotton sateen fabric with a tiny bit of stretch and slightly modified one of my original dress patterns (to make it a bit more modest, hehe) I also made a matching Fascinator and handbag (but I haven't photographed them yet :-)
The main reason we went to the races was to see the magnificent Black Caviar run. And we were not disappointed! Wow! She's so amazing and stunning. I actually got goosebumps when I saw her race!
You know when you watch Usain Bolt run a race and it sort of looks like he's just going for a jog to the shops to get the Sunday paper and all the other runner are just about exploding in an attempt to get even vaguely near him? Well, that's what it's like to watch Black Caviar run! Love it!!
We're going to see her run again in a few weeks and I'm really excited! But then I have to think of another dress to make for myself to wear.... For a crazy moment last night I considered crocheting myself a dress... Then, today when I tried to start it to figure out a design, I came to my senses and realised that would be INSANE.... So instead, I'm going fabric shopping next week :-) I may just end up making another dress using the same pattern as the one pictured above, but in a different fabric :-) I know, lazy... But it's so easy to make!!
